FIM Sidecar Motocross World Championship is set to return to The Netherlands for the opening round over the weekend of April 23/24th.
All the familiar names line up for the opener with one or two absentees, but with some bright new talent preparing to flex their muscles and show what they can do.
Most of the sand specialists have already been in proper race action with the Dutch Championship three rounds in and counting. Stars emerging early in the season include Julian Veldman and Glenn Janssens, Reigning WSC Champion Etienne Bax now with Ondrej Cermak, and a rejuvenated Gert Van Werven/Ben van den Bogaart.
Determined not to be outdone, several British crews made those journeys, with new pairing Brett Wilkinson/Joe Millard looking very strong. The Brown dynasty is back in business and will be giving it their all in Markelo, as Jake gets to grips with the experienced Paul Horton, and Stuart Brown again enjoys the company of Josh Chamberlain.
Another team staying together, who will surely benefit from their fifth place in the 2021 standings are Estonian hardman Kert Varik with the brilliant Finn Lari Kunnas. They became stronger as the short season unfolded and will be hungry for more.
Despite all the challenges posed by two years of pandemic disruption, entries are strong, with a full grid entered for Markelo.
All the teams are champing at the bit to get underway, each with the knowledge that just seven rounds and fourteen races will allow no margin for error or zero scores.
This new season is shaping up to be yet another brilliant year of sidecar motocross with live TV planed at all rounds, and the potential of a new name sitting on top of the pile.
