In 2013, the FIM launched a significant project to promote environmental communication and awareness. They recruited a team of athletes from various cultures, genders and motorcycling disciplines who shared the FIM's values.
Every year more athletes from different motorcycling disciplines have joined and in 2023 we have the unconditional support of a rider with a long history in the world of Rallies, Sand Races and Bajas.
Adrien Van Beveren's participation is crucial for developing this sport that is closely intertwined with nature. With his exceptional sensitivity towards the environment and a magnetic personality that draws people in, Adrien has what it takes to make a real impact.
Adrien is a fighter and has gained valuable experience throughout his extensive sports career. On multiple occasions we have witnessed him participating in this sport with locals from remote villages. He enjoys observing and meditating amidst the unique landscape that this sport offers to those who appreciate it.
We are honoured to present a video that depicts the life of Adrien. From a young age, Adrien was a tireless fighter for his goals, describing himself as "a child of the earth". Growing up in the north of France on his family’s farm with its animals and crops has heightened his sensitivity towards preserving the environment. This video tells a part of Adrien's life story.
The video highlights Adrien's personal reflections which are a result of his dedication and perseverance towards his sport and daily life and was recorded in La Massana, Andorra, which is now Adrien's hometown where he lives with his family. This location offers him a natural haven to practice in the mountains and at high altitudes.
Kattia Juárez, FIM Sustainability Commission Director: “It was a pleasure to work on the production and direction of this film. Through getting to know Adrien, it's clear that he has a deep sensitivity to nature, a strong work ethic, resilience and love for both his family and sport. The voice of our athletes holds great power. In a world that is becoming increasingly focused on technology and neutrality, it's important not to forget the essence of sustainability – the people and the planet. Biodiversity preservation is also an urgent topic that must not be overlooked. We hope that this film will be reproduced by all members of our federation and serve as a call to action for riders who practice natural means. It's crucial that we preserve our resources."
Jean François Wulveryck, FIM Cross-Country Commission Director: “The sport faces a significant challenge in minimising its impact on the environment while still promoting its positive aspects. The regulations governing the sport are designed to control any aspect that could harm the natural environment. Additionally, the sport is used as a testing ground for new technologies and there is an openness to exploring alternative energies and materials. The industry is encouraged to conduct research to make the sport more sustainable and safer.”
