Stephan Carapiet elected 2022-2026 FIM Asia President

Mr Stephan Carapiet was elected FIM Asia President during today’s FIM Asia General Assembly (26 votes out of 27) that was held digitally due to the ongoing pandemic.

Representing the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) of the Philippines, Stephan Carapiet has previously served as FIM Asia President from 2010 to 2013 and then from 2018 to 2022.

The elected FIM Asia Vice Presidents, whose terms will be aligned with that of the President, are Ms Gong Hong Guo (CMSA-China), Messrs Sujith Kumar (FMSCI-India), Isa Alawadhi (BMF-Bahrain), and Stanley Yasuhiro (GMAC-Guam).

Following his election, the FIM President Jorge Viegas said: "The FIM Asia General Assembly has once again elected Stephan Carapiet as President along with his full team who will lead the 29 Asian FMN’s during the period of the new mandate. I strongly believe and hope that 2022 will be the end of this negative situation that has not allowed us to fulfil all our scheduled motorcycling activities. I wish Stephan, Gong, Sujith, Isa and Stanley all the best for their work and commitment!”

FIM Asia President Stephan Carapiet added: “Obviously I am delighted to have been elected once again to fulfill this very important role and would like to offer my sincere thanks to all the FMNs who continue to have trust in my work. The FIM can count on the ongoing commitment of the FIM Asia team and myself as we push forward with the development of motorcycle sport and other activities within our region.”
