Speedway - Tony Olsson

Tony Olsson, successor of Ole Olsen at the end of the 2009 season, will stay as FIM Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup Race Director. His contract with the FIM has been renewed for the next five years. His work during the last three seasons has been considered excellent.

Tony was a professional speedway rider in England from 1986 to 1997 and has held a FIM Clerk of the Course licence since 2005. He has also worked as Track Racing Coordinator at the Swedish Motorcycle Federation (SVEMO) and was Speedway Team Manager for Sweden from 2001 to 2004.

Asked about this new contract, Tony Olsson stated:
“I am really happy for this renewal; to sign a new contract for another five years will give me some stability.   I have learned a lot during these last three seasons working for the FIM and I feel confident to be able to continue to fulfill my tasks in the best possible conditions.”

Roy Otto, Director of the FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP), stated:
“The contract renewal of Tony Olsson is excellent news for the FIM and the world of Speedway Grand Prix. Tony has done an outstanding job as Speedway Race Director during the last three years and I have no doubt that he will continue to fulfill this tasks perfectly for the years to come.”
