Speedway GP: Chugunov ready for Wroclaw double

Wroclaw rising star Gleb Chugunov returns to FIM Speedway Grand Prix action in Olympic Stadium double-header.

Wroclaw racer Gleb Chugunov is back to take on the FIM Speedway Grand Prix elite after being named as wild card for the Betard Wroclaw SGP double-header on July 30 and 31.

The two-time Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations world champion has become a Polish international since taking citizenship last year, and continues to emerge as one of the sport’s brightest talents.

He impressed on his individual World Championship debut in last year’s Wroclaw SGP double-header, registering seven championship points in round one, before reaching the semi-finals of round two, scoring nine.

He dons the famous No.16 race jacket once again for another golden opportunity on the world stage.

Chugunov is a key member of Wroclaw’s PGE Ekstraliga side, starring in a strong team along with SGP icons Maciej Janowski, Tai Woffinden and Artem Laguta. He also races for Bauhaus Elitserien team Smederna in Sweden.

The 21-year-old is joined in the Wroclaw rounds by track reserves Tobiasz Musielak and Bartlomiej Kowalski, who line up at No.17 and No.18 respectively.

Musielak is also in red-hot form and recently won the SGP qualifying round in Glasgow to reach the GP Challenge in Zarnovica – where he could book his place in SGP 2022.

Meanwhile, Kowalski will be a familiar face to Czestochowa fans as one of the club’s junior stars.
