Former Polish champion Szymon Wozniak has been rewarded for a stellar start to 2022 with Stal Gorzow after being named as FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow wild card.
The 29-year-old dons the famous No.16 race jacket for what will be his second Speedway GP appearance. He raced in the 2018 FIM Gorzow Speedway GP, scoring eight points and falling just a point short of the semi-finals.
Wozniak was crowned Polish champion in 2017, winning the title at Gorzow’s Edward Jancarz Stadium.
He has raced for Stal Gorzow in Poland’s PGE Ekstraliga since 2018 and has started 2022 in fine form. He is currently eighth in the league’s average charts on a very impressive 2.125 points per race – a figure that puts him ahead of 10 Speedway GP riders.
Wozniak also raced for his country in the 2020 FIM Speedway of Nations Final in Lublin, joining forces with Stal Gorzow team mate Bartosz Zmarzlik to win the silver medal for Poland.
e joins the likes of Polish stars Zmarzlik, Maciej Janowski, Patryk Dudek and Pawel Przedpelski in the FIM Gorzów Speedway GP.
The line-up for the Edward Jancarz Stadium event is completed by track reserves Wiktor Jasinski and Oskar Paluch, who wear the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.
