At the end of FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) day one, Livia Lancelot (Honda) is a new name at the sharp end of the FIM Women’s Trophy category.
Making her FIM ISDE debut with France in Chile, the two-time FIM MXGP Motocross World Champion placed a remarkable second overall to Australia’s Tayla Jones (Husqvarna).
“With my racing commitments in the FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship it’s taken a while to be able to commit to racing the FIM ISDE,” explains Lancelot.
“I never raced Enduro before I entered the final round of the FIM Enduro World Championship a couple of weeks ago. It was a big learning experience, but it excited me for Chile.”
However, while results are important, the FIM ISDE offers an opportunity to embrace racing for her country for the first time in her illustrious career.
“I’m here to enjoy the new challenge of Enduro, but importantly embrace the team spirit,” she continues. “We don’t have anything like this in Motocross for female athletes, so that is the biggest motivational factor for me to come to Chile.”
“Racing for my country, with a really good group of women, is proving special and I think this will be the greatest memory I’ll take from this race.”
