Giorgio Grasso – A True Italian Champion

While most competing in the 2022 FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy (EVT) are focused only on the enjoyment of riding their bike and socialising with likeminded vintage enthusiasts, some, thanks to their past achievements, naturally stand out as likely stand out performers.

Italian Giorgio Grasso is one of those riders. Winner of ten Italian Enduro Championships as a younger man, the former two-time Enduro World Champion (in 1992 and 1993 on a 250cc Kawasaki) has also participated in countless FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) with Italy, winning both Junior and World Trophy titles along the way.

At this year’s FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy Giorgio is a member of Team Italy together with Tortoli Enrico (KTM GS 250) and Tullio Pellegrinelli (PUCH GS 347).

“Our team is strong,” explains Giorgio, “we are friends for many, many years and we ride mainly to have fun together. We all love this event, and we can see that this year it will be very good, also on the technical point of view. The special tests are very nice, we walked all of them together and I think we will enjoy them.

“I hope we’re going to have good results, obviously our bikes are old, but we are ready to solve any problems, last year we had some electrical problems. It’s all part of this event. Thanks to all of the team our bikes are in excellent condition, and we hope for some luck, then maybe the win.

“Personally, I ride the regional enduro championship of Liguria, and I ride with my son almost every weekend, also when I follow him during the races. I like to ride my vintage bike as much as possible, because I remember the ‘old times’ when I was young. Also, I like to see the people I know already from many years ago and relive very beautiful emotions from years gone by.”
