Round two of the FIM Sidecar World Championship will take place at the 4.168 km Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia just on the outskirts of Rijeka. In past years the circuit has been known to be very hard on man and machine, the very abrasive track surface is hard on tyres, and with the normally hot weather sapping the energy from drivers and passengers it is a hard weekend for the sidecar teams.
It is nearly two months since the first round in Aragon Spain, so the teams will be egger to get back racing. Could Jorg Steinhausen and Gregory Cluze increase their lead in the championship after winning in Spain on their BMW powered LCR, not if Pekka Paivarinta and Adolf Hanni get their way they had a great battle with Steinhausen and Cluze, Adolf Hanni will be fully fit for this round, he was still suffering from the injuries he sustained in the last round of the 2012 championship at Le Mans. What about the Birchall Brothers Ben and Tom, they had a great race to finish third considering they had a machine loaned to them as their own machine had mechanical problems and could not be rectified before round one, they will be out to show what they can do on their own machine, and will be on a high as they will be arriving straight from the Isle of Man TT races where they have been competing, and won the second sidecar race. Kurt Hock and Enrico Becker will be wanting to upset the top three teams though. They crossed the line in fourth place and that was after spinning off track, they rejoined and showed that their machine is fast and they are well capable of getting on the podium. New team to the championship Scott Lawrie and James Neave had a great start to the season crossing the line in fifth place, they got a great start in Aragon, they were second into the first turn and after a great battle with Hock and Becker, they just lost out to a fourth place, but a good result for them.
It will be a two race format in Croatia, so it will be a busy weekend for the teams.
