The FIM Academy’s Mentoring Programme also boasts a three-year project in Georgia to support the Georgian National Motorsport Federation (GNMF) to reach the objectives identified in three key areas.
Per Westling, former General Secretary of the Swedish Federation SVENSKA MOTORSPORTFÖRBUNDET (SVEMO), has been assigned as main Mentor and he met with George Chikovani, President of the Federation, and with Tea Abelashvili, Secretary General, in mid-October.
The project aims to strengthen the governance and structure of the Federation and assist in the development of its different functions while identifying areas that may require support. The development of Clubs and Officials will also be an integral part of the project that will allow for a more ‘personalised’ approach.
The disciplines of Enduro and Motocross in Georgia, that is situated on the eastern shores of the Black Sea, have also been identified as objectives of development, hence part of the project will be an evaluation of the development needs for both sports with the ultimate goal of a ten per cent increase in riders and officials.
Launched earlier this year, the FIM Mentoring Programme provides a structure that allows Federations to learn from one another by sharing knowledge and experience to ensure the development of skills and encourage connection between Federations and increase engagement across the entire FIM Family.
