Initially announced in February of this year at the first meeting of the FIM Board of Directors in 2023, the FIM Academy is pleased to confirm that the Mentoring Programme has already established its first two projects, one in Indonesia and one in Georgia, both of which are scheduled to run for three years.
The purpose of the Mentoring Programme is to provide a structure that allows Federations to learn from one another by sharing knowledge and experience. This will ensure the development of skills and also encourage connection between Federations, and increase engagement across the entire FIM Family.
Federations interested in applying to the Mentoring Programme can get in touch with the FIM Academy to explain their development needs and key motivations. Once their applications have been evaluated, if successful they will be assigned a Mentor with the length of the project dependant on the objectives listed in the request.
Mentors will be matched to Mentees based on development goals, specific topical interests, location and experiences. The FIM will track progress and analyse effectiveness on the basis of each individual project goals, the mentoring connection and the participants.
Once requests have been evaluated the FIM will produce a comprehensive document including details of funding for both Mentor and Mentee. On completion of projects there will be a formal process to bring the mentoring experience to a close. Benefits for the Mentors include the opportunity to make a difference and expand their networks while sharpening coaching and listening skills and developing leadership skills. In turn, Mentees will also expand their networks as well as being able to improve performance by gaining perspective, clarity and insight and increasing strategic understanding.
Details of the initial two projects will be shared soon.
