For the first time the Fédération International de Motocyclisme (FIM) will be present with its own space at the Salon du 2 Roues, the exhibition dedicated to the world of two wheels, which will be held from 7 to 10 March at the imposing Parc des Exposition EuroExpo in Lyon (FRA).
Thanks to the collaboration of Amicale Spirit of Speed, the Club that brings together the most famous street motorcycle collectors in Europe, over thirty precious historic motorcycles will be on display, with machines ranging from the 1904 Alcyon Buchet 5HP Mono to the Michele Pirro's 2020 Ducati Panigale V4.
Over one hundred years of two-wheel history are covered: amongst the many exhibits on display will be Randy Mamola's Suzuki 500 from 1982, Anthony Gobert's Suzuki 500 - 1987 and Andrea Dovizioso's Ducati MotoGP - 2015.
Some of these motorcycles will meet those who have ridden them with such passion will be present on the FIM stand, including the Italian star Giacomo Agostini multiple FIM Grand Prix World Championwith his legendary 1976 Suzuki 500 RG, Eugene Laverty with his Aprilia RSV 1000 WSBK, the FIM Supersport World Championsh Sébastien Charpentier and his Honda CBR 600RR , plus the 2006 Suzuki Crescent GSX-R Endurance World Champion. In addition James Toseland, the two-time FIM Superbike World Champion and the French riders Emily Bondi and Ornella Ongaro will be available to visitors for questions, autographs and photos as from Friday.
It will be possible to follow guided tours by Spirit of Speed experts every day starting on Thursday at the FIM stand. The occasion is to promote the newly created Certification for Competition Motorcycles introduced by the FIM to recognise and authenticate the heritage of racing motorbikes owned by museums and numerous passionate collectors from all over the world.
The motorcycles, currently only those in the MotoGP, Superbike, SuperSport, Endurance, Formula, Sidecars and Land Speed Records categories, will be able, after careful evaluation by a FIM certification technical committee, to obtain the unique identification plate along with an ID number, a QR code and a certificate along its own history.
The FIM Certification for Competition Motorcycles is one of the initiatives aimed at celebrating 120 years of the International Motorcycle Federation and its glorious history.
