The stakes are higher than ever for the 2025 British Championship Final in Manchester on Monday, May 12 as Britain’s finest battle it out for their place in a hotly-anticipated FIM Speedway Grand Prix double-header.
For the first time in Speedway GP history, Britain stages two rounds in one season, with the ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester taking place on the iconic National Speedway Stadium on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.
GB heroes Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley are already guaranteed spots in Manchester’s biggest-ever speedway event as they return to the scene of their 2021 and 2024 FIM Speedway of Nations world-title triumphs.
They will be joined in rounds four and five of the SGP series by the 2025 British champion – or the highest-placed non-Speedway GP rider if reigning champion Bewley lifts a fourth straight national title or Lambert adds to his 2018 crown.
FIM SON world champion Tom Brennan claimed the 2024 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff wild card, but this year’s winner will earn two chances to impress against the best riders in the world.
FIM Speedway Grand Prix race director Phil Morris is anticipating a tense battle for places in the National Speedway Stadium showdown.
He said:“If the honour of being crowned British champion and earning one Speedway GP opportunity wasn’t enough, the chance to be part of two rounds in Manchester certainly sets up an exciting British Final.
“I’m sure we are in for a fantastic night of racing in May, and it’s going to be great to see Manchester host its first Speedway GP rounds a month later.
“The home crowd will be hoping for a British winner, but a Manchester track known for great racing will ensure a very competitive night at the National Speedway Stadium.”
Tickets are selling fast for the Manchester rounds, with the North Grandstand on the home straight completely sold out for both Friday and Saturday and the South Stand on the back straight sold out for Saturday.
