FIM Women’s Speedway Academy all set for Teterow

The third edition of the FIM Women’s Speedway Academy (WSA) powered by Anlas, Kineo and HKC Koopmann will be held in the Bergring Arena at Teterow in Germany this coming Thursday and Friday (20-21 June) and will be followed on Saturday (22 June) by the first-ever FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy at the same venue.

Led by the FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP) and supported by the FIM Women's Commission (CFM) as part of a successful ongoing collaboration, the WSA was created to promote gender inclusivity in the sport.

Talented female racers aged fourteen years old and upwards from across the globe will attend the WSA with training and mentoring in all aspects of the sport – from riding technique and race craft through to machine preparation, mental approach and diet – led by American four-time FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Champion Greg Hancock and FIM Long Track race director and former world long track racer Glen Phillips.

Following on from the inaugural event at Diedenbergen in Germany in 2022 and last year’s edition at the National Speedway Stadium in Great Britain, this year’s WSA will be building upon solid foundations as it continues its ongoing mission to encourage female participation in the sport.

Fourteen riders representing six countries including host nation Germany plus Argentina, Australia, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands will take part in this year’s event. German star Celina Liebmann, British rider Katie Gordon and Dutch rider Nynke Sijbesma will again be amongst the female riders who will benefit from this innovative two-day learning programme.

Janika Judeika, FIM Women's Commission (CFM) Director, said: “I am very much looking forward to Teterow and the third edition of the FIM Women’s Speedway Academy. It is an incredibly exciting initiative that is already showing very positive results and I feel sure that the up-and-coming female racers in attendance will benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience of riders of the calibre of Greg Hancock and Glen Phillips.”

Armando Castagna, FIM Track Racing Director, stated: “The FIM Track Racing Commission is proud to be working together with the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission to promote such a diverse and inclusive initiative as the FIM Women’s Speedway Academy. With such talented trainers and so many motivated women attending from around the world I am confident it will be a very successful event. Thank you to all our partners whose support makes this possible.”
